Buy-To-Let Mortgage Demand Remains Strong Claim Accord Lets
3 June 2009
According to Carl Mimmack, the managing director of Accord Lets the regional property specialists, offering property to rent in Leamington, Birmingham and Warwick, demand for landlord mortgages remains strong despite the economic downturn, with demand expected to rise even further towards the end of 2009.
Despite the crisis of confidence experienced by both landlords and lenders in the last year, the UK’s buy-to-let market finally seems to be picking up with fears regarding a UK property collapse and steep increases on interest rates finally diminishing.
Mr Mimmack, from the firm who offer not just Birmingham apartments to let but property to rent in Leamington and Warwick property to let, said, “With an increase in the number of repossessions we are seeing at the present time, we will be seeing a strong demand for landlord mortgages in the next few months. Landlords will start to realise that property is still a solid long-term investment and as a result be enticed back into the fold.
“Here at Accord, we have already seen a huge increase in the number of landlords wanting to rent out their properties, and many of these are first time landlords, which is great for both the economy and rentals market.”
As first time buyers are shadowed out of the market, or left cautious about buying their first home, tenant demand is also set to be on the increase, often regarded as the ‘safer option’, the rentals market is the only choice for some people who are just too concerned that they will lose money if they choose to buy.
Mr Mimmack, from the leading letting agent in Birmingham city centre added, “There will always be a regular supply of tenants, as property prices fluctuate, and this means a steady stream of income for would be landlords. My advice to any landlord currently deciding whether to take the plunge is to go for it! The property market is starting to pick up and landlords who make a savvy investment at the current time will inevitably be the winners.”
